Raymond Earl Peterson

Raymond E. Peterson, of Cayuga, passed away on August 13, 2023 at Clinton Gardens in Indiana. He was 94. He was born at home in Cayuga on October 29, 1928 to Ivy and Gladys (Ditto) Peterson. Raymond married Iverne Shrout in 1949 and had many happy years together before her eventual passing.

Raymond retired from General Motors after 34 years of dedicated service. He enjoyed spending most of his time outdoors, which included his favorite hobbies of fishing and gardening. When he wasnt outside, he could be found playing cards or listening to Western music. In his younger years, he would always look forward to the evenings he and Iverne could go dancing.

Raymond is survived by his children William (JoAnn) Peterson, Mickie (Bridget) Peterson, Debbie (Nick) Carron, and Kevin (Karen) Peterson. He was loved by numerous grandchildren and several great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by both his parents, his wife Iverne, two sons Michael and Robert Peterson, and his 5 siblings.

A visitation will be held on Friday, August 18, 2023 from 11:00 am 1:00 pm EST at Sunset Funeral Homes DeVerter Chapel, located at 215 N. Division Street in Cayuga. A funeral service celebrating his life will take place following the visitation at 1:00 pm EST at the funeral home on Friday. He will be laid to rest next to Iverne at Thomas Cemetery in Newport.
