Raymond Dean Weidenburner

Raymond Dean Weidenburner, 57, of Chatham passed away at 1:37pm on Wednesday November 7, 2018 in Springfield. He was born in Danville as the son of Robert and Nancy Weidenburner. Early in Ray's life he met and married Sherry Weidenburner from this marriage they had two children and spent a total of twenty-three years together. Ray later began dating Debbie Boos-Wilger who has been with him for over the last five years, they survive. Suriving Ray are his son, Skyler Weidenburner, daughter, Marlena (Noah) Freund, mother, Nancy Weidenburner; brothers, Robert (Penny) Weidenburner, Michael (Sheri) Weidenburner, Rodney Weidenburner; sisters, Kathy (Greg) Pulley, Maggie (David) Haase; grandchildren, Angelynn Freund, Isabella Rhoden, Sophia Rhoden, Charlie Freund, Gabriel Freund; several nieces and nephews; and Janelle and Corinne Wilger, who for the last five years have been like daughters to Ray. Ray is preceded in death by his father Robert. Ray graduated from Danville High School in 1979. He then received a bachelor's degree in medical technology from Eastern Illinois University, did a clinical rotation at Loyola University, and later received a Master of Business Administration. Since 2009 Ray has been a Lab Director for the state of Illinois. He was a very creative man and truly enjoyed painting, traveling, and early in adult life, playing the guitar. If given the opportunity he would have spent the rest of his days in a hammock on the beach and although he lived a busy life he adored his family and would do anything for them. He was greatly loved and will be sorely missed. A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 4pm on Monday, November 12, 2018 at Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center 3940 N. Vermilion St. in Danville. Officiating will be pastor Miles Clark. Visitation will be held from 1pm to 4pm prior to the service at the funeral home.
