Veedersburg, Ind. - Raymond D. Holycross, 91, of Veedersburg and formerly of Covington, Indiana, passed away at 3:20 p.m. EDT Tuesday, May 5, 2015 at The Waters of Covington in Covington, Indiana. Raymond was born November 29, 1923 in Cayuga, Indiana the son of the late Dewey and Sylvia Shealto Holycross. Raymond married Elvie Tucker Phillips on October 17, 1988 in Tennessee. She survives. Other survivors include his daughter, Raymonia(Larry)Bartlett of Danville, Illinois; step children, Penny(Kenny)Krout of Veedersburg, Indiana; Patty(Joe)Carter of Wingate, Indiana; Tim(Angela)Phillips of Attica, Indiana and Marla(Jack)Tanner of Williamsport, Indiana; several grandchildren; great grandchildren and great great grandchildren; two sisters, Wanda(James)Dunham of Danville, Illinois and Maxine Roush of Clayton, Indiana; one brother, Gary(Christine)Holycross of Georgetown, Illinois; sister-in-law, Peggy Holycross of Covington, Indiana and several nieces and nephews. Raymond was preceded in death by his daughter, Diana Westbrook and one brother, Floyd Holycross. Raymond retired from General Motors (Tilton) in 1975. He was a veteran of World War II serving with the United States Army. Raymond loved working outdoors, gardening, hunting and spending time with his family. Funeral services: 1 p.m. EDT Friday, May 8, 2015 at DeVerter Funeral in Cayuga, Indiana; Officiating: Rev. Don Morgan; Burial: Hughes Cemetery in rural Perrysville, Indiana with military honors by the Cayuga American Legion Post #263; Visitation: 11 a.m. EDT Friday, May 8, 2015 until time of services at the funeral home. The family request contributions to the Alzheimer's Association, 50 East 91st Street, Suite 100, Indianapolis, Indiana 46209-4830 or to the American Diabetes Association, 7363 East 21st Street, Indianapolis, Indiana 46219.
