Raymond Cornell

Raymond H. Cornell, 85, passed away at home in Georgetown on January 19, 2024. Ray was born one of twelve children in Rossville on July 22, 1938 to parents Hattie and Arthur Cornell. They preceded him in death. He grew up in Rossville and attended Rossville High School, graduating with the Class of 56. After high school, he joined the United States Army in which he proudly served as a military policeman.

Ray married Marlene Davidson on February 22, 1968 in Danville. She survives. Also surviving are their children: Randy (Myong), Bobby (Rob), Teresa (Rick), Vickie (Nick), Sherry, John (Amy), and Fred. He also leaves behind 15 grandchildren Kimberly, David, Tammy, Chloe, Eddie, Neva, Neven, Brittany, Taylor, Marlena, Skyler, Jaidyn, Cassie, Zakery, and Hanna, 25 great-grandchildren Leila, Kayden, Penelope, Elijah, Macey, Hunter, Jerall Jr, Brylee, Sybella, Brady, Trayton, Scarlett, Camden, Angel, Isabella, Sophia, Charlie, Gabriel, Abigail, Arius, Hailey, Alainee, Aubrey, Mandolin, and Melody, 2 great-great grandchildren Gavin and Elise, and siblings Bob, Chuck, Arthina, Carolyn, Melvin, Sharon, and Dean. He leaves behind many nieces and nephews as well.

In addition to his parents, he is also preceded in death by his siblings Francis, Beverly, Dorothy, and Helen.

Ray enjoyed completing crossword puzzles, singing karaoke and playing euchre, sometimes even hosting card tournaments with Marlene. He retired from General Motors after more than 20 years of dedicated service.

A visitation will be held on Friday, January 26, 2024 from 12 pm 2 pm at Sunset Funeral Homes Urbas Chapel, located at 414 S. State Street, in Westville.
