Raymond A. Jones

Raymond Alan Jones, 80, went home to the arms of Jesus on March 26, 2023, in Champaign, IL, while surrounded by family. His long battle with cancer showed his courage in facing life challenges with a smile and a joke. Despite the pain, Rays unwavering faith in God held strong until the end and he finished his race well.

Ray was born to Donald William and Grace Irene Beasley Jones on March 16, 1943, in Peoria, IL. Ray met his beloved wife, Shirley, in 1960 at Ridgewood Baptist Church. They married in 1965 and went on to have three sons, Raymond Jr., Jason and David. Ray worked his whole career and retired from Caterpillar. His entire life, Ray was a dedicated and loving husband, father and grandfather.

Ray joins his daughter-in-law Jill and grandson Nicholas Jones in Heaven. He is survived by his loving and faithful wife Shirley Jones and sons Raymond Jr. (Leslie) Jones of Palm Beach Gardens, FL, Jason (Holly) Jones of Rockford, MI, and David (Melissa) Jones of Champaign, IL. He is also survived by grandchildren Raymond III (Summer) Jones, Kaitlyn (Joseph) Greve and Natalie Jones and David Jr., Devin and Hannah Jones. He also leaves behind a beloved brother-in-law Raymond (Ina) Brixey of Tucson, AZ.

Because of a recent celebration of his life at an 80th birthday party, there will be no memorial service.
