Ray S. Evans

Danville - Ray S. Evans, 81, passed away on Monday March 14, 2016 at his home surrounded by his family. He was born May 31, 1934 in Fairmount, IL, the son of Raymond H. & Veda L. (Goodwin) Evans. Ray married Vivian L. Drollinger on May 23, 1953 in Catlin. Ray is survived by his wife; children Dennis D. (Shellie) Evans, Judith Ann (John) Pendleton, & Trudy (the late Steve) Westley, all of Danville; grandchildren Luke Evans, Matthew & Marcus Ray (Jennifer) Carpenter, Jason Anding, Shane (Irma) Westley, Robert (Rachel) Pendleton, Joahn (Eliza) Pendleton, & John II (Jasmine) Pendleton; nine great-grandchildren; and sister Linda (Gerald) Chesnut of Potomac. He is preceded in death by his parents & brothers Ebby & Larry Evans. Ray loved the Lord and raised his family in the church. He made evangelistic calls for the church in the name of Jesus. Ray enjoyed guns, hunting, and fishing. He liked to watch WWE, NASCAR, and football with his grandson Luke. Visitation will be held at Sunset Funeral Home & Cremation Center on Thursday March 17, 2016 from 1-3pm with service to follow at 3pm at the funeral home. Burial will take place at Sunset Memorial Park. Memorial donations can be made in Ray's name to the Second Church of Christ.
