Perrysville, Ind. - Ray C. Hicks, 90, of Perrysville, passed away at 1:12 P.M. CST Thursday, November 21, 2013 at the V.A. Illiana Health Care System in Danville, Illinois. He was born October 22, 1923 in Perrysville, Indiana, the son of the late Daniel and Eva Goff Hicks. He first married Betty Bales. From this marriage are two surviving children, Ellen Kay George of Peoria, Illinois and Michael R. and Beth Baade-Hicks of Bloomington, Indiana. He later married Cleta Baker Taylor on June 26, 1996 in Kentucky. She survives. Other survivors include his step-daughter, Vicki(Wayne)Haugen of Danville, Illinois; granddaughter, Lindsey R. Hicks of Ellettsville, Indiana; great grandson, James Faulkenburg of Ellettsville, Indiana; brother, Carl(Delores)Hicks of Perrysville, Indiana, and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his brother and sister in law, Gene(Pearl)Hicks. Ray was a retired farmer and carpenter. He was a veteran of the United States Air Force, serving three years during World War II. Ray was a member of the Carpenters Local 269 in Danville, Illinois and the Perrysville American Legion Post #350. He was a lifetime member of the Perrysville United Methodist Church and a former member of the Perrysville Lions Club. Ray enjoyed woodworking and tending his garden. Funeral services: 12 P.M. EST Monday, November 25, 2013 at the Perrysville United Methodist Church in Perrysville, Indiana; Officiating: Rev. Jason Dean; Burial: Hicks Cemetery in Perrysville, Indiana with military rites by the Perrysville American Legion Post #350; Visitation: 10 A.M. EST Monday, November 25, 2013 until time of services at the church. Contributions may be made to the Perrysville United Methodist Church, PO Box 179, Perrysville, Indiana 47974-0179 or Perrysville American Legion Post #350, Perrysville, Indiana 47974. DeVerter Funeral Home in Cayuga, Indiana in charge of arrangements.
