Ray Boen, 82, of Alvin, went to be with his Lord and Savior Monday, January 25, 2010. He was born February 19, 1927 in Danville, IL the son of Ira and Elizabeth (Underwood) Boen. He married Amy J. Roe fifty-five years ago on December 31, 1954. She survives. He is also survived by one son: Stephen B. (Tammy) Boen of Rossville, IL; a daughter: Christina Boen of Alvin; one sister: Doris Dode Wines of Racine, Wisconsin; and two grandsons: Stephen R. (Heather) Boen of Bismarck, and Christopher Boen of Rossville. He was preceded in death by his parents, four brothers: his identical twin Roy, Paul, Orval and Ernest Boen; and one sister: Edna Miller. Ray worked as a Maintenance of Way employee for the Milwaukee and Soo Railroad lines for forty-three years until his retirement in 1987. He was a member of the United Methodist Church in Rossville. Ray enjoyed farming with his brother Roy, and was an avid horseman. He also enjoyed rodeos, trail riding, parades, and was a member of the Rossville Saddle Club for a number of years. A celebration of life service for Ray will be held at 11 am on Thursday, January 28, 2010 at the United Methodist Church in Rossville with Pastor Beckie Laumeier officiating. Burial will follow the service at the Bethel Cemetery in Alvin. Visitation will be held from 9 to 11 am Thursday, January 28, 2010 at the church.
