Randall S. Randy' Richter, 65, of Fithian, passed away at 6:22am, Wednesday, May 25, 2016, at his home. He was born on January 12, 1951, in Danville, IL, the son of Harold L. and Olive {Monroe} Richter. After attending Danville Area Community College, Randy was hired by the Oakwood Unit #76 School District as a Custodian where he worked for 43 years. He was a member of Muncie Baptist Church. He served in many capacities as Trustee, Choir member, Song Leader and Lay Leader. Randy enjoyed playing on the Church softball, basketball, and volleyball teams. He was also a member of the Vermilion County Farm Bureau and the Vermilion County Museum Society. Randy enjoyed planting trees and was a passionate naturalist. He loved nature and contributed to the health and well-being of wildlife. He was an avid reader, loved music, and collected antiques. Randy was known to have an excellent sense of humor, phenomenal memory, and was a great historian. He will be missed by all who knew and loved him. He was a beloved brother and is survived by his siblings, Kathee (Bruce) Torgersen of New Palestine, IN, Janet (Carroll) Slade of Muncie, Wendy (Bill) Wilder of Fithian, Ken (Judy) Richter of Stone Bluff, IN, Brenda (David) Salogga of Decatur, & Pam Richter of Fithian; his nieces & nephews, Micah (Holly) Torgersen, Leah (Jason) Anderson, Justin Slade, Mindy Slade, Skyler Slade, Rachel Wilder, Rosanna Wilder, Logan Wilder, Derek Wilder, Brandy (Kelsey) Richter-Friend, Kody Richter, Tyler Richter, Levi Richter, John Salogga, & Katie Salogga; and his great nieces & great nephews, Carter Anderson, Cora Anderson, Elias Torgersen, & Aubree Wilder. He was preceded in death by his parents. A celebration of Randy's life will be held at 11:00am, Saturday, May 28, 2016, at Muncie Baptist Church, Muncie, IL, with Pastor Dave Garver officiating. Visitation will be 9am-11am Saturday prior to his service at the Church. He will be laid to rest in Stearns Cemetery, Fithian. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be given in his name to Muncie Baptist Church, Vermilion County Museum, Oakwood Community Education Foundation, or Outdoor Heritage Foundation of Vermilion County.
