Randall G. Matthews

Randall G. Matthews, 75 of Farmer City, IL. passed away peacefully at Carle BroMenn Medical Center in Normal, IL. on Thursday October 5, 2023. He was born in Danville, IL. on September 27, 1948 the son of Glen and Emma (Mullins) Matthews. They precede him in death.

He is survived by his wife, Rebecca Matthews, daughters, Kim Matthews of Bloomington, IL., Kelly (Matt) McCarty of Roberts, IL., four grandchildren, three great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Randy retired from the United States Post Office after 36 years of employment, he served as treasurer of the Urbana Postal Credit Union, was a member of the John L. Kelly Credit Union Chapter, served on the board of directors for the Woodlawn Country Club and the Farmer City Council. He was an Illini fan, he enjoyed playing golf and loved activities with his grandkids.

He will be remembered for his friendly and outgoing personality and was a "gentle giant" that never met a stranger. Randy was a great husband, dad, grandpa and friend. He will be dearly missed.

Randy was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters and one brother.

In lieu of other expressions of sympathy, memorials may be made in Randys name to the American Heart Association or the Alzheimers Association.

A visitation will be held on Wednesday October 11, 2023 from 11am-1pm with a service to follow at 1pm at Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center 1102 Churchill Rd, Mahomet, IL. 61853. He will be interred at Grandview Memorial Gardens in Champaign, IL.
