Ralph X. Howard Jr.

Ralph X. Howard Jr., 81, of Danville, passed away at 7:50 a.m. Thursday, May 07, 2009 at Carle Foundation Hospital in Urbana. Ralph was born on October 28, 1927 in Vincennes, Indiana, the son of Ralph X. and Lida Mae (Cotton) Howard Sr. He married Martha Ruth Huggins on June 15, 1952 in Terre Haute, Indiana. She survives. He is also survived by one son- Paul S. Howard of Danville; one daughter- Ruth A. (Frank) Moore of Terre Haute, Indiana; one brother- Walter L. (Anabel) Howard of Franklin, Indiana; one sister- Virginia M. Hancock of Vincennes, Indiana; four grandchildren- Frank W. (Kari) Moore III, Kathleen M. Moore, Margaret M. Moore and Jonathan R. Moore; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents. Ralph graduated from Vincennes-Lincoln High School, in Vincennes, Indiana. He worked as an office manager for several years at Great Scott Service Ltd. Ralph was a member of Ridgeview Baptist Church in Danville. He enjoyed bowling, reading and history. Ralph enjoyed reading books about the Civil War and seeing Civil War re-enactments. A Celebration of the Life of Ralph X. Howard Jr. will be at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, May 12, 2009 at Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center, with Pastor Mark Keyser officiating. Visitation will be from 5:00-7:00 p.m. Monday and from 1:00-2:00 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Burial will follow the service in Sunset Memorial Park.
