Ralph Wayne Moore, 83, of Rochester, Illinois, passed away Monday, May 13, 2024 at Memorial Hospital in Springfield, Illinois. He was born March 12, 1941 in Danville, Illinois, the son of Ralph and Rlou Moore. He married Maryann Bromley on February 12, 1967 in Georgetown, Illinois. She will miss him dearly.
Surviving are his children Wayne (Lori) Moore of Shorewood, Illinois, Melissa (John) Loop of Perry, Ohio and Melinda (Ryan) DuRocher of Rochester, Illinois; his wonderful grandchildren, Cole Moore, Caden Moore, Laura Loop, Julie Loop, Grace DuRocher, Jacob DuRocher, Ty DuRocher and Dylan DuRocher. He is also survived by his brother Tom (Sharon) Moore and Sister-in-law, Nancy (Ron) Lacey as well as many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by two sisters, Nancy (Don) Hoskins and Shirley (John) Fletcher.
Ralph served in the Army after High School, with much of his time in service on the DMZ in Korea. He was a proud member of the American Legion. He was also selected to go to Washington DC on the Land of Lincoln Honor Flight accompanied by his son-in-law, Ryan. After serving in the Army, he worked at Hyster with his brother Tom and best friend Wayne Lewis. Shortly after, he met and married Maryann. He then went to work for Illinois Power in Danville, Illinois and made many close friends through the years.
Wayne loved to hunt and fish with his son and his many friends. He always enjoyed watching his three children in their sports and activities. One of his greatest joys was watching his eight grandchildren in their sports and many activities.
The family would like to send their thanks and appreciation to Dr. Larry Sapetti, Springfield Fire Department and EMT personnel that have helped him over the past few years.
A visitation will be held from 1-3 pm on Monday, May 27, 2024 at Sunset Funeral Homes Houghton-Leasure Chapel, located at 200 E. West Street in Georgetown, Illinois. A memorial service celebrating Ralphs life will follow the visitation at 3 pm, also at the funeral home. He will be placed to rest at Sunset Memorial Park with military honors the following day on Tuesday, May 28, 2024.
