Ralph I Orrick

Ralph I. Orrick, 84, of Ridge Farm, passed away at 1:58pm, Tuesday, August 27, 2013, at Presence USMC, Danville. He was born on October 12, 1928, the son of Raymond and Love {Bostwick} Orrick, both deceased. He was united in marriage to his high school sweetheart, Margaret Ann Jones, on May 8, 1946, in Danville, until her passing on February 13, 2012. He is survived by: his son, Bruce & Cindy Orrick of San Angelo, TX; his daughter, Nan Northrop & Roger Strubinger of Ridge Farm; his grandchildren, Dana & Dave Franz, Jason Orrick, Angela & J.D. Nordberg, & Cody Natalini; his great grandchildren, Lindsey Franz, Dylan Nordberg, & Cooper Nordberg; his sister, Mary Margaret Shepard of Mattoon, IL; his nieces, Marsha Koets, Janice Johnson, & Kathy Hopper; his nephew, David Shepard; and his closest family friends & fellow farmers, Steve & Chere Pearson, Mark Johnson, Wesley Land, & Don Ellis. He was preceded in death by his brother, Kenneth Orrick. Ralph graduated from Ridge Farm High School where he played basketball, football, and was an FFA member. He attended and served in the United Methodist Church of Ridge Farm. Ralph was an avid traveler in both his career and recreational pastime and had visited all 50 states before the age of 30. We will always miss and remember his many vivid stories. Ralph enjoyed helping his neighbors and friends on the farm, Western movies, and loved the Chicago Cubs, Bears, and sported orange and blue for the Fighting Illini. He and Ann made many memories traveling and sightseeing between family trips to California, Texas, & Florida. A private family service will be held at a later date. Sunsets Houghton-Leasure Funeral Home, Georgetown, is assisting the family with arrangements.
