Ralph Cravens

Ralph Cravens, 91, of Danville passed away at 2:35 PM on December 29, 2024 at the Villas of Holly Brook Assisted Living and Memory Care in Danville, IL. 

Ralph was born on April 7, 1933 the son of Presley and Amelia (Vickory) Cravens in Danville, IL. He married Patty Ann Moody and she preceded in in death on January 3, 1985 and then married Mary Lou Woodward on January 25, 1986 and she survives.

Survivors include his wife Mary Lou Cravens of Danville, IL, his children Steve (LaVeda) Cravens of Farmer City, IL, Robert “Mike” Estock of Danville, IL and Patty (Pete) Meeker of Danville, IL. Ralph is also survived by eight grandchildren, eleven great grandchildren and one great great grandchild, his pride and joy, Kynsley.

Ralph is preceded in death by his parents, his first wife Patty Ann Cravens, his children Arnold Cravens, Troy Estock, as well as infant children Brian Cravens and Candice Cravens, four siblings Charles Cravens, Carl Cravens, Helen Rossnette, and Martha Lazzell.

Ralph is a member of Christway Church of Danville and retired from the Streets Department for the City of Danville, IL after 37 years of service. He served his country in the United State Army from October of 1951 until October of 1953. Ralph enjoyed working on cars, especially his 1929 Model A which he still owns. He also enjoyed spending time with his coffee buddies, David, Jay, Bruce and Randy, also known as the “Liars Club”.

The family would like to extend a special Thank You to the staff and friends at the Villas of Holly Brook Assisted Living and Memory Care in Danville as well as the staff from Transitions Hospice. 

A Celebration of Life will be held at 3:00 PM on Friday, January 3, 2025 at Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Danville, Illinois, 3940 N Vermilion St. Danville, IL 61834. Bruce Par will officiate. Entombment will be in Sunset Memorial Park. Military Rites will be accorded by American Legion Post 210 Honor Guard. Visitation will be held from 1-3:00 PM on Friday, January 3, 2025 at the funeral home.

Memorials may be made in Ralph’s memory to Christway Church of Danville.
