Ralph C. Wade

Ralph C. Wade, 81, of Oakwood passed away at 7:10am on Thursday December 4, 2008 at Colonial Manor Nursing Home. Ralph was born on August 23, 1927 in Aetnaville, Ky. the son of Alfred and Eva Ralph Wade. On January 26, 1950 he married Dortha Beasley in Fordsville, Ky. Surviving Ralph are Dortha and their children; Carlos Wade, Tony (Carlia) Wade, and Rob Wade all of Oakwood, Regina (Harvey) Knight of Brownsburg, In., and Debbie (Paul) Drew of Tucson, Az.. Brothers Victor (Betty) Wade and Alfred (Kathy) Wade Jr. and sister Anne (Gene) Lott. Grandchildren James (Tracy) Wade, Lori (Darren) Ware, Dixie (Jimmy) Smith, Travis Wade, Shane Wade, Shawn (Amanda) Wade, Michelle Knight, Luke Knight and Delaney Drew; 11 great grandchildren and also many nieces and nephews and special friends Dorothy Harrison, Bud and Lucy Woodard of Oakwood and Jewel Rogers of Hammond, In. Brothers Bill, Ernest, and Wayne Wade, sisters Ruby Miller, Augusta Soper and Joyce Bland preceded him in death. Ralph enjoyed hunting, fishing, and gardening. He loved restoring old automobiles and was a member of the Illini Antique Auto Club. His early years in Kentucky he farmed, logged, and worked in the oil fields. When he moved to this area, he worked at Estad and retired after 28 years as a press operator. A celebration of Ralphs life will be held at 10:00am on Saturday December 6, 2008 at Sunsets Oakwood Chapel. Pastor Patti Wise will officiate. Burial will follow at Oakwood Cemetery.
