Rachel Irene 'Mike' Boothe

Rachel Irene Mike Boothe, 80, of Westville, passed away with dignity and grace after a long illness with cancer at 7:09 a.m. Thursday, December 27, 2007 at Provena United Samaritans Medical Center in Danville. Rachel was born on July 2, 1927 in Paxton, Illinois, the daughter of Corwin and Gladys (Lewis) Barringer. She married Al Scurrah in 1946. He preceded her in death in 1959. She later married Treasel Boothe in 1960. He preceded her in death in 1984. She is survived by her one son- Michael (Ambrosia Shutes) Boothe of Urbana; one daughter- Bonnie (Ken) Dunbar of Danville; one sister- Norma (William) Ernst of Baltimore, Maryland; four grandchildren- Deanna (Steve) Nourie of Westville, Don (Nicole) McMasters of Westville, Adam Boothe of Urbana and Steven Boothe of Urbana; four step-grandchildren-Ken (Julie) Dunbar of Oakwood, Harold (Stacy) Dunbar of Elmhurst, Illinois, Dr. Dan (Julie) Dunbar of Frontenac, Missouri, and Joe (Kim) Dunbar of Danville; four great-grandchildren- D.J., Stefanie, Paige and Donnie; 10 step great-grandchildren- Valerie, Aaron, Kelly, Jillian, Marc, Bryan, Shelby, Dustin, Kristian, and Austin; two great-great- step grandchildren- Jerrick and Josslyn; also several nieces and nephews and former daughter-in-law Marie Fisher. She was also preceded in death by her parents, and son-in-law- Donald McMasters Rachel worked for General Electric in Danville for 32 years, until she retired in 1985. She enjoyed traveling, shopping, and doing crafts. Most of all she loved her family, grandchildren, and extended family. A Celebration of the Life of Rachel Irene Mike Boothe will be at 1:00 p.m. Monday, December 31, 2007 at Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center, officiating will be Rev. Kevin Nourie. Visitation will be from 2:00 " 6:00 p.m. at the funeral home on Sunday. Burial will be at Springhill Cemetery following the service. Memorials may be made to the Provena Cancer Center.
