Rachel Deck

Rachel Bernice Deck, 96, of Crawfordsville, IN passed away on July 13, 2008 at Lane Nursing Home in Crawfordsville, Indiana. Rachel was born October 1, 1911 in Vermilion County, IL daughter of George and Nellie McDonald French. She married Daniel Deck in November of 1933. He preceded her in 1996 after 63 years of marriage. Survivors include three children Paula Rogers, Jacqueline (John) Buch, and Bernard (Barbara) Deck; seven grandchildren: Joanne, Kimberlee, Bradley, Christopher, Michelle, Eric, and Janet; ten great grandchildren: Stefan, James, Brady, Elise, Zack, Ben, Josh, Cody, Kelbey, sister: Florence Mae Matthews, and a special neighbor Marty. She was preceded in death by her parents, granddaughter Judith, great grandson Curtis, three brothers: Eugene, Doel, and Lowell; and three sisters: Gustava, Oleeta, and Florena. Rachel graduated from Bismarck High School and was a dedicated homemaker and mother. She was a member of the Alvin Christian Church for many years and most recently the Liberty Chapel in Crawfordsville, IN. She also belonged to the Bismarck Thimble Club, loved raising Pomeranians & gourds, crafts of all kinds, garage sales, tending to her flowers, especially her dahlias, and most of all spending time with her grandchildren and her beloved Pomeranian Coco. A Celebration of Rachels Life will be held at 3:00 pm, Thursday, July 17, 2008 at Sunset Funeral Home & Cremation Center 3940 N. Vermilion St. Danville, IL. Visitation will be held from 1-3 pm Thursday at the funeral home. Following the service, she will be laid to rest at Gundy Cemetery in Bismarck.
