DANVILLE - Prudencia M. Barcenilla, 102 years and 10 months, went to the Lord in Heaven on March 4, 2015, surrounded by her daughters, at Presence United Samaritans Medical Center in Danville. Born April 28, 1912 in Cebu City, Philippines she was the daughter of Isidro S. and Apolonia A. (Tugot) Misterio. She graduated from National University College of Pharmacy in Manila, Philippines in 1936. She married Mariano T. Barcenilla in 1941 in Cebu City. He preceded her in death in 1998. Prudencia was a retired pharmacist and an instructor at Southwestern University in Cebu City for more than 30 years, teaching Botany and Pharmacognosy in the College of Pharmacy, Arts and Sciences. She will be sadly missed by her great grandsons, 5 year old, Xander, and 2 year old, Kyler, who were the apples of her eyes. She is survived by her six children, Dr. Lisa Barcenilla of Danville, Mariano (Catalina Sustino) Barcenilla Jr. of West Palm Beach, FL, Frances Barcenilla of Danville, Susan (Francisco) Aparece of Danville, Jose (Emerita Blanco) Barcenilla of Glen Burnie, MD and Lourdes Barcenilla of Danville; eight grandchildren, Ann Marlyn (Francis) Quiban, Venice Ireen Barcenilla, Brooklyn Jean Barcenilla, Mary Grace (Adam) Clawson, Ace Aparece, Agnes Aparece, Denmark (Sharen) Barcenilla and Berlin (Reed) Lastimosa; and eight great grandchildren, Zuriel Karol Quiban, Zanna Angela Quiban, Zach Gedion Quiban, Xander Scott Clawson, Kyler Grant Clawson, Sean Marc Barcenilla, Clark Ashton Barcenilla and Belle Bridgette Lastimosa. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Mariano; 1 brother; and 3 sisters. Prudencias family would like to extend a special thanks to her primary care physician, Dr. Karen Broaders, who cared for her for many years. Also, thank you to Father Greg Nelson of St. Paul Catholic Church and Father Deus, Chaplain of Presence United Samaritans Medical Center, and all of Presences health care professionals. A Mass of Christian Burial will be 10 a.m. Monday, March 9th at St. Paul Catholic Church with Father Greg Nelson celebrating. Entombment will follow mass at Sunset Memorial Park. Memorials have been established for the American Heart Association and the American Lung Association. The family will receive friends Sunday at Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Danville from 4 p.m. until 7 p.m. with a prayer service to begin at 7 p.m. Please join Prudencias family in sharing memories, photos and video of her life on her Tribute Wall at www.sunsetfuneralhome.com.
