Priscilla Fitzgerald

SIDNEY - Priscilla Shively Fitzgerald, 80, of Sidney went to be with her Lord on Tuesday, June 23, 2015 at home surrounded by her loving family. She was born August 5, 1934, in New Haven, Connecticut to Walter and Eva Shively. She married Jim Fitzgerald, her husband of 62 years, on October 4, 1952. They were long-time members of Trinity Lutheran Church in Urbana. Prie is survived by her loving husband and four children, Susan Frick (Tim) of Longview, Jill Corradi of Urbana, Richard Fitzgerald (Sandy) of Urbana, and Jamie Perry (Scott) of St. Joseph. She was blessed with ten grandchildren - Amy, Lori, Kimberly, Tyler, Steven, Patrick, Shannon, Seth, Priscilla, and James; and six great-grandchildren, Elizabeth, Nathan, Jacob, Boston, Hudson, and Winter. She is also survived by four siblings, Bob (Dr. Carol Kearns) Bingham, Web Bingham, Sarah Bingham and Leona Allen. Priscilla enjoyed a full and wonderful life. She was a rural mail carrier and retired from the United States Postal Service on March 5, 1986. She was a devoted volunteer for Presence Hospice for over 25 years. She was also a member of the Urbana Regional Planning Commission and the Champaign Co. Zoning Board of Appeals. The lives Prie has touched and blessed are innumerable. Though the illness took her away from us so unexpectedly quick, Priscilla's concern for her family over herself was a testament to her strength, love, character, and devotion. A memorial service will be held Saturday, June 27th at the Sidney United Church, 501 East Main Street, Sidney, Illinois. Visitation will be from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. with the memorial service beginning at 11:00. There will be no graveside services at this time. The service will be officiated by Don Gillespie of Ashkum, Illinois, a member of our family. In lieu of flowers, Priscilla has requested that donations be made to Presence Hospice Program. Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 710 N. Neil St. in Champaign, is assisting the family with arrangements.
