Phyllis Reed

Phyllis J. Reed, 92, of Danville, IL formerly of Champaign, IL passed away at 1:50 AM on January 30, 2026 at Hawthorne Inn in Danville, IL.

Phyllis was born on October 18, 1933 the daughter of William and Violet (Thacker) Jobe in Lexington, KY.

Phyllis is survived by her children, Kenneth Michael Reed (Steve) of Grand Rapids, OH, Sharon Griffin (Arnold) of Collinsville, MS, Jimmy Reed (Amy) of Spanish Fort, AL, and Jere Anne Hall (Lindsey) of Meridian, MS, her sister, Jeanine Anglin-Bennett (Pat) of Oakwood, IL. Phyllis is also survived by 6 grandchildren and eleven great grandchildren with the 12th on the way.

Phyllis is preceded in death by her parents, her son, Nick Reed and grandsons, Matt Griffn and Richie Ricks, one brother, Bill Jobe and sister, Jackie Dobbs.

Phyllis worked as a cosmetologist while living in Mississippi and as a CNA at several Champaign-Urbana nursing homes while living in Illinois. She enjoyed cooking and had a “green thumb”, growing wonderful gardens and windowsill gardens in later years. She also enjoyed crocheting, studying art, especially classic watercolor art, and was an avid reader of classic novels.

A Celebration of Life Graveside Service will be held at 11:00 AM on April 14, 2026 at Eastlawn Cemetery in Urbana, IL. Pastor Paul Rebert will officiate.
