Phyllis Ann Plumart

Mahomet, IL - Phyllis Ann Hanson Plumart was born December 1,1933. She was 91 years old when God took her home on February 2, 2025. She was the daughter of Harold and Daisy Hanson. Phyllis met Gene Plumart in 8th grade and they became lifetime sweethearts, marrying on September 6, 1952. Both Phyllis and Gene were born and raised in Danville but resided in Mahomet the last years of their lives. They were members of First Baptist Church, Danville, where they served the Lord together for many years.

Phyllis retired from the College of Commerce at the University of Illinois in 1993 and Gene retired from the U.S. Postal Service. They were very young at heart, and though they were not blessed with children, they treasured the many German Shepherd dogs that they raised and loved dearly, especially Tootsie who was the light of Phyllis' life.

Phyllis was preceded in death by her husband, on October 23, 2004. She was also predeceased by her siblings, Beverle Hanson Petersen, Jack, Donald, and Robert Hanson, and 2 nephews, Nils Hanson and Martin Petersen. She is survived by three nieces: Susan Peter, Carol McCullock and Linda LeClaire. Also surviving are five nephews: Steven Petersen, Randy Petersen, Terry Hanson, David Hanson and Donald Hanson. She was also blessed to have several great nieces and nephews who were very dear to her.

Though Phyllis will be missed by many close relatives and friends, she has the joy of joining many loved ones in Heaven.

A service to celebrate the life of Phyllis Ann Hanson Plumart will be held at 11 AM on Monday, February 10, 2025 at Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 3940 N. Vermilion St., Danville, IL 61834. Burial will follow at Sunset Memorial Park. Visitation will be held from 10-11 AM prior to the service on Monday, also at Sunset in Danville. Memorials preferred to American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals.
