Phyllis Jane Cast

Phyllis Jane Cast, 87, of Oakwood, went to be with her Lord Friday, September 14, 2012 at her home. Phyllis was born on September 17, 1924 in Oakwood, the daughter of Perry "Pudge" and Grace (Oakwood) Wilson, the sixth of nine children. She is survived by her eldest daughter- Linda (Jack) Carder of Fairmount and their children- Doug (Michele) carder and their sons- Zachary and Nicolas, and Jeff (Toni) Carder and their children Aleah and Owen. Her second eldest daughter Suzanne "Suzie" (Jerry) Hobick and their children Troy (Tami) Hobick and their sons Drew and Will, and Melinda Morman and her two sons Cale and Jordan. Her son- Ralph Jr. "Butch" (Karen) Cast and their children Adam (Jeni) Cast and his children Becky, John, Sam, and Kali; Robert (Anna) Cast, John Dallas Cast and Alyssa Cast. Also surviving are three sisters- Marion Stevens of Oakwood, Lena Long of Minnesota, Wilma Brandon of Urbana and one sister-in-law Eileen Cast of Danville. Greeting her in heaven are her loving husband Ralph of 59 years who preceded her in death on June 24, 2000, a grandson- Cale Dustin Hobick, three sisters- Carole Wilson, Marge McNamara and Betty Wolfe and two brothers- Perry Eugene and Wendell Wilson. Phyllis was a graduate of Oakwood High School and soon after married Ralph Cast of Fairmount on October 17, 1942. Together they farmed in the Fairmount area for over 50 years. Phyllis enjoyed bowling, golfing, playing cards with the "girls" and most of all spending time with her much loved children and grandchildren. Phyllis and Ralph spent many years wintering in Florida and fishing in Canada during the summer. A special thanks to two loving caregivers Doris Danner and Becky Wendell. She will be greatly missed by her loving family, her nieces, nephews, cousins and all who knew her. A Celebration of Phyllis's life will be held on Monday, September 17, 2012 at 10:00 AM at Oakwood United Methodist Church in Oakwood with Pastors Kim Dancy and Dave Anderson officiating. A visitation will be held from 4:00-7:00 PM on Sunday, September 16, 2012 at Sunset's Oakwood Chapel in Oakwood, IL. Burial will take place at Stearns Cemetery. Memorials can be made in Phyllis's name to the Oakwood United Methodist Church, Provena Hospice or the charity of the donor's choice.
