Phyllis A. Hess

Cayuga, Ind. - Phyllis A. Hess, 85, of Cayuga, Ind., passed away at 10:40 p.m. CDT Sunday, June 16, 2019 at North Logan Health Care Center in Danville, Illinois.

She was born November 25, 1933 in Eugene, Indiana, the daughter of the late George and Fauniel (McLain) Howard.

Phyllis married Freddie K. Dickerson on October 29, 1948. He preceded her in death on November 8, 1996. Later, she married Floyd Hess on May 6, 2000. He also preceded her in death on March 4, 2015.

Survivors include her daughter, Theresa (Michael) Hires of Cayuga, Indiana; a sister, Sonya (Steve) Holmes of Cayuga, Indiana; a grandson, Joshua (Christina) Hires of Mattoon, Illinois; a nephew, Jason (Jenny); a grand niece, Kaylee Holmes, and a step grand nephew, Andrew Martin all of Perrysville, Indiana. She also had 4 step sons: Kevin Hess, Keith Hess and Rick (Pam) Hess all of Georgetown, Illinois and Randy (Beverly) Hess of Veedersburg, Indiana.

Phyllis was preceded in death by her son, Gary K. Dickerson.

Phyllis dedicated her life to Jehovah God in 1956 and attended the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses in Westville, Illinois. She loved talking to people about Jehovah and what wonderful hope we have for the future. She also enjoyed drawing and painting.

Cremation will be accorded with inurnment to be held at a later date at McKendree Cemetery in rural Georgetown, Illinois. A memorial service will be held at a later date. DeVerter Funeral Home in Cayuga, Indiana is assisting the family with arrangements.
