Phyllis A. Brady, 86, of Danville, passed away on February 14, 2014 at 4:00 AM at Hawthorne Inn Nursing Home in Danville. She was born on June 24, 1927 in Danville, the daughter of Harry and Anna (Katchner) Sims. She married Robert Brady on June 27, 1965 in Danville and he preceded her in death in 2001. She will be deeply missed by her daughter, Tracey (Michael) Lagan of Bartlett, IL, one granddaughter, Alison Lagan of Bartlett, IL, one brother, Fermen Sims of Gasquete, CA, one sister, Virginia McKee of Danville. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews. Phyllis was blessed with many friends that will miss her greatly. Phyllis was preceded in death by her parents, husband and two infant brothers, Richard and Charles Sims. She was a graduate of Oakwood High School. Phyllis was a homemaker for most of her life as well as working as the secretary at the Danville Township Office for nine years. For many years she has earned the respect and love of many people throughout the area by providing guidance through her calling as a card reader. Phyllis loved nature, every morning you could find her outside feeding the birds and squirrels. She was an exceptional mother and grandmother whose whole world revolved around her daughter and granddaughter. Phyllis also shared a very special relationship with her sister Virginia. Phyllis family was her whole life. The family would like to send a special thank you to all the caregivers who provided loving and respectful care for Phyllis both at home and at Hawthorne Inn. They would also like to thank Dr. Sodhi for all of his care throughout the years. A celebration of Phyllis life will be held on Friday, February 21, 2014 at 11:00 AM at Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center with Reverend Randall Robinson officiating. Visitation will be held from 9:00-11:00 AM on Friday prior to the service at the funeral home. Burial will take place at Danville National Cemetery. Memorials can be made in Phyllis name to the American Alzheimers Association or the American Heart Association.
