Phillip Westly Turner, 64, of Danville, died at 6:28 a.m. Monday, August 14, 2006 at Carle Foundation Hospital in Urbana. Phillip was born on April 24, 1942 in Danville, the son of Rory and Eleanor (Gillum) Turner. He is survived by his one daughter- Tamera Turner of Danville; mother- Eleanor Turner of Danville; one brother- Daniel (Angel) Turner of Danville; one sister- Marilyn Sue Bloomfield of Oakwood; one special brother-in-law- Harlan Brown of Danville; four nieces and five nephews. He was preceded in death by his father, two sisters- Diana Brown and Sharon Crawley, two nieces and two nephews. Phillip graduated from Danville High School. Phillip later attended DACC and Eastern Illinois University, where he obtained his degree in teaching. Phillip taught at DACC until retiring in 2000. He was an avid Cardinal and Illini fan. He enjoyed doing genealogy work with his brother-in-law. He enjoyed bowling and reading. He was a member of Illiana Historical and Genealogy Society. A celebration of the life of Phillip Westly Turner will be at 10:00 a.m. Friday, August 18, 2006 at Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Danville, with Pastor Dave Routien officiating. Visitation will be fro 9-10 a.m. Friday at the funeral home. Burial will be at Sunset Memorial Park. Memorials may be made in lieu of flowers to Sunset Memorial Park to go towards the purchase of a grave marker.
