Bismarck " Phillip W. Volpert, 65, of Bismarck passed away on Wednesday, October 10, 2007 at Carle Foundation Hospital in Urbana. Phil was born on November 16, 1941, near Oakdale. He was the son of Stanley and Raehleen Volpert. Phil married Karel L. Morse on April 16, 1972, at Bowman Avenue United Methodist Church in Danville. She survives He is also survived by his mother of Marissa; three children, Andy (Leigh) Volpert of Springfield, Tim (Jacki) Volpert of Boilingbrook, and Mary (Clint) McCool of Hoopeston; three grandchildren, Mia Volpert, Murphy, and Maya McCool; one brother, Larry (Melba) Volpert of Freeburg; two sisters, Nadine Shinabarger of St. Louis, and Linda (Harold) Cates of Nebo, KY; one niece and five nephews. He was preceded in death by his father. Phil was a barber in Danville for over 40 years. He served on many committees as a Trustee for the Village of Bismarck. He was the current President of the Bismarck Lions Club, past District Governor of District 1E, and 2007-2008 Lions of Illinois Foundation Trustee. He was an active member of the Bowman Avenue United Methodist Church. Phil enjoyed antique cars, watching Cardinal baseball games, fishing, mowing, and playing with his grandchildren. A Celebration of Phils life will be held at 10:00 am on Saturday, October 13, 2007 at Bowman Avenue United Methodist Church, 911 N. Bowman Ave., Danville with Rev. Jim Williams and Rev. Dennis Divan officiating. Visitation will be from 4-7 Friday, October12, 2007 at Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 3940 N. Vermilion St., Danville. He will be laid to rest at Manns Chapel Cemetery. Memorials may be made to Bowman Avenue United Methodist Church or the Bismarck Lions Club Playground Fund.
