Perrysville, Ind. -- Phillip Scott Cohen, 57, of Perrysville, passed away at 3:45 a.m. CDT Friday, May 20, 2011 at the VA Illiana Health Care System in Danville, Illinois. He was born October 22, 1953 in Clinton, Indiana, the son of the late Hezzie Arthur and Thelma Frazier Cohen, Sr. He married Connie Jo Neuman on September 19,1981 in Danville, Illinois. She survives. Other survivors include his children, Jacob Arthur Cohen and Sarah Lindsey Cohen both of Perrysville, Indiana; two sisters, Sharon Thurman of Clinton, Indiana and Vicki(Tom)Blacketer of Bloomingdale, Indiana; two brothers, Kenny(Kay)Cohen of Mecca, Indiana and Ronald(Jody)Cohen of Clinton, Indiana. Phillip was preceded in death by three sisters, Nedra, Dixie and Billie Kay and two brothers, Keith and Hezzie, Jr. Phillip was employed at Quaker Oats/Pepisco. He also formerly worked at General Motors in Tilton, Illinois from 1974 thru 1981. He was a veteran of the United States Marine Corps serving during the Vietnam Era. Phillip was a member of the Second Church of Christ in Danville, Illinois, Perrysville American Legion Post #350, Vermilion County Museum and The Izaak Walton League of America. He was a lifetime member of Bass Masters, National Muzzle Loading Rifle Association and was a member of the National Rifle Association. Phillip attended D.A.C.C. in 2003 studying machine trades. He enjoyed mushroom hunting, fireworks, country and western music. Most of all he enjoyed spending time with his children. Funeral services followed by cremation: 11 a.m. (Illinois Time) Tuesday, May 24, 2011 at the Second Church of Christ in Danville, Illinois with military rites by the Perrysville American Legion Post #350; Officiating: Drew Mentzer; Burial of Cremains: Lower Mound Cemetery north of Perrysville, Indiana to be held at a later date; Visitation: 4 to 8 p.m. (Indiana Time) Monday, May 23, 2011 at DeVerter Funeral Home in Cayuga, Indiana and one hour prior to services (Illinois Time) at the church on Tuesday, May 24, 2011. Contributions may be made to the National Muzzle Loading Rifle Association, PO Box 67, Friendship, Indiana 47021-0067 or to the National Rifle Association, 11250 Waples Mill Road, Fairfax, VA 22030.
