Phillip Ray Mikel passed away in his home surrounded by his loving family on Monday, May 25, 2015. A memorial service will be held on Thursday, May 28, 2015 at 6:30pm at Heritage Baptist Church in Jefferson with Brother Seth Buckner officiating. A second memorial service will be held at Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Danville, Illinois on Saturday, May 30th at 11:00 am with Brother Gene Lee officiating. Burial will be at Sunset Memorial Park following the services. After graduating from Danville High School, Danville, Illinois, Phillip enlisted in the Army and served in Baumholder, Germany coming home with a medical discharge. During his lifetime, Phillip worked for the Hyster Co. in Danville for 14 years and owned House of Health in Danville before moving to Marshall, TX, where he worked as the manager of Whataburger for 14 years. Phillip loved his Lord and Savior, and served him in many ways throughout his life. Phillip is survived by his mother, Elma Mikel; his wife, Martha Mikel; his three daughters, Pam (Douglas) Gordimer of Rockville, MD, Paula (Jeff) Cool of Tyler, TX, and Paige (Thomas) Rhoades of St. Mary's, GA.; grandchildren, Benjamin Gordimer, Matthew Gordimer, Zachary Cool, Nicholas Cool, Lily Cool, Anna Cool, Abbi Mikel, Ashley Morris, Andrea Rhoades, and great-grandaughter Rosalynn Mikel; step-daughters, Cheri (Darrell) Holland and Julie (Adrian)Wynn of Salem,Virginia; step-grandchildren, Arron Holland, Katherine Holland, Shelby Wynn and Camren Wynn; and great-granddaughter, Makena Holland. We want to thank his doctors Dr. Diana Malone, Dr. Shea, Dr. Roshan, Dr. Nirmal and Heartsway Hospice. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Heritage Baptist Church or Beams Bibles sending Bibles all over the world.
