Phillip J. Skinner, Sr.

Phillip J. Skinner, Sr., 83, of Westville passed away on April 2, 2024 at OSF Sacred Heart Medical Center in Danville surrounded by his children. He was born May 19, 1940 in Danville to the late Harry and Lucy Skinner. He married Bertha Ringis and they shared 60 years of marriage before her passing in 2022.

Phillip joined the United States Navy and proudly served on the USS Paul Revere. He was highly regarded as a jack-of-all-trades throughout his lifetime and held numerous jobs. Some included accounting, Housing Authority for the City of Danville, and owning several of his own businesses. He enjoyed working on computers and would jump at the chance to help his family whenever needed.

He is survived by his children, Jim (Laurie) Skinner, Phillip (Jamie) Skinner, Julie Skinner, Tony (Andrea) Skinner, & April (Eric) Munck; his grandchildren, Julian De La Torre, Andres De La Torre, Kolton Munck, Aidan Skinner, Savanna Skinner, Weston Skinner, Raelyn Skinner, Macy Skinner, Emma Skinner, Bryson Myers, Bentley Grider, Lauren (fianc, Justin) Skinner, James Skinner, Hunter (Haley) Allan, Camilla Allan-Skinner, & Soleil Rose; his great grandchildren, Ava Skinner & Remi Vilo; his brother Matthew Skinner; his sister, Martha "Jane" (William) Bartlow; his numerous nieces and nephews, especially his niece, Kerri Bartlow; and his good friend Gary LaBaw.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Bertha; his brother Paul Skinner; his sister Margaret "Jeanie" (Ernst) Petersen; and his grandson, Michael Skinner.

A visitation will be held on Saturday, April 6, 2024 from 12 pm- 2 pm at Sunset Funeral Homes Urbas Chapel, located at 414 S. State St., in Westville. A funeral service will follow at 2 pm. He will be laid to rest with military honors next to Bertha at the Lithuanian National Cemetery following services.
