Phil E. Bernardi, Sr.

Danville, Ill. - Phil E. Bernardi, Sr., 67, of Danville, passed away at 7:26 p.m. CST Friday, December 2, 2011 at his residence. He was born October 1, 1944 in Danville, Illinois, the son of Robert J. and Esther Lillian Whitington Bernardi. He is survived by three sons, Philip(Laurie)Bernardi, Jr. of Danville, Illinois; Paul Bernardi of Tilton, Illinois and Jacob(Trisha)Bernardi of Blackstone, Illinois; his mother, Lillian Bernardi of Oxford, Alabama; two grandchildren, Kameron and Sam Bernardi; one sister, Carol(Robert)DeVerter of Cayuga, Indiana; two brothers, Dr. Robert(Gretchen)Bernardi of Edwardsville, Illinois and Dr. Patrick(Sandy)Bernardi of Oxford, Alabama, and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father, Robert J. Bernardi. Phil retired from the maintenance department at K.I.K. in Danville, Illinois. He was a 1962 graduate of Schlarman High School. His memberships included the Danville Knights of Columbus, Further Light Lodge #1130 A.F. & A.M. and the Danville Gao Grotto. Phil enjoyed fishing, hunting and spending time outdoors. There will be no public services. A private family service and burial of cremains will be held at a later date. DeVerter Funeral Home in Cayuga, Indiana is in charge of arrangements.
