Perry L. Baldwin, 94, of Danville, passed away at 10:00 a.m. Monday, August 4, 2008 at home. Perry was born on April 3, 1914 in Georgetown, Illinois, the son of Lester P. and Orpha (Goodwin) Baldwin. He married Adelia A. Poggendorf on August 25, 1939 in Danville. She preceded him in death on August 15, 2000. He is survived by his daughter- Jan Verhoeven of Danville; two grandsons- Timothy P. (Katrina) Verhoeven and James A. Verhoeven both of Oakwood; two great-grandchildren- Briana and Brady Verhoeven of Oakwood. He was preceded in death by his parents, one son-in-law- Tom Verhoeven and three brothers- Elmo L. Baldwin, Ray F. Baldwin, and Max E. Baldwin. Perry graduated from Georgetown High School. He worked at Hyster Company for 30 years as an order entry clerk, until he retired in 1976. He was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church. He was also a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church Mens Club, Hyster Retiree Club, United Commercial Travelers and the Lutheran Layman League. He enjoyed woodworking, gardening, working in his yard and birdhouses. Perry was very much a people person. He loved talking to people and always put his family first. He will be missed by all who knew him and loved him. A Celebration of the Life of Perry L. Baldwin will be at 3:00 p.m. Wednesday, August 6, 2008 at Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center, with Pastor Daniel Fienen officiating. Visitation will be from 2:00 " 3:00 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Entombment will follow the service in Sunset Memorial Park.
