Peggy Tinder, 79, of Danville, passed away at 4:02am on Saturday, July 11, 2009 at the Carle Foundation Hospital in Urbana, IL. Mrs. Tinder was born on April 7, 1930 in Chrisman, IL, the daughter of Arthur and Maude (Ashley) Walls. On January 14, 1951, Peggy married Mr. James R. Tinder Sr. They were married for over 50 years until his passing in 2005. Survivors include one son, James R. Tinder Jr. and his wife Connie of St. Peters, MO., one daughter, Shirley Sloop and her husband Dave of Danville, IL, four grandchildren, David Sloop and his wife Rachael of Franklin, IN, Matthew Sloop and his wife Jessica of Tilton, IL, James Reid Tinder and his wife Ashley of OFallon, MO, and Stephanie Tinder of St. Peters, MO. Her three great-grandchildren, Madeline Sloop, Kayleigh Sloop, Austin Sloop, and her very special friend, Jackie Gossar of Danville also survive Peggy. Her parents and her six siblings precede Peggy in death. Peggy was a member of the Ridgeview Baptist Church in Danville. She enjoyed volunteering at the church, deep sea fishing in Florida with her family, arts and crafts, and spending time with her grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and friends. Per Peggy and her family wishes, she will be cremated and a memorial celebration of her life will begin at 6:00pm on Tuesday, July 14, 2009 at Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center located at 3940 N. Vermilion St. in Danville with Pastor Ben Witherington officiating. Visitation will begin at 4:00pm until time of service at the funeral home. Memorial condolences may be made in Peggys name to the Shriners Hospital for Children, 12502 N. Pine Dr. Tampa, FL. E-mail condolences may be sent to the family at www.sunsetfuneralhome.com.
