Peggy Jean Connor, 79, of Rantoul, formerly of Danville, passed away at 11:08 p.m. Saturday, October 29th, 2011 at Provena Covenant Medical Center. Peggy was born on August 21st, 1932, in Danville, Illinois, the daughter of Milton and Gladys (Ackers) Allen. She married Fredrick William Connor Sr. on December 24th, 1951 in Danville, Illinois. He preceded her in death on August 5th, 1994. She is survived by one daughter- Lettie Rife of Rantoul; one son- Dennis (Susan) Connor of Danville; eight grandchildren- Michael Connor, Brandy Connor, Robert Connor, Jake Connor, Doug Connor, Edward (Shannon Christensen) Rife, Larry (Mariah) Rife and Irshell (Kelly) Rife and their children Cody and Irshell RIfe; one brother- John "Jack" (Lea) Allen of Danville; one brother-in-law- Harold (Maureen) Connor of Peoria, Illinois; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, two sons- Frederick William Connor Jr. and Stephen Connor, and great-granddaughter- Sophia Ann Rife. Peggy graduated from Danville High School. She worked for Cole Hospital in Champaign in her younger years. She enjoyed crafts, crocheting, knitting, painting, plastering, ceramics, and loved decorating her home. She was an avid Chicago Bears and Illini fan. Her greatest love was spending time with her family. A Celebration of the life of Peggy Jean Connor will be at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, November 3rd, 2011 at Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center. Burial will follow the service in Danville National Cemetery. Visitation will be from 9:00-11:00 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the family.
