Peggy Dare of Covington, Indiana, departed this life on Tuesday, October 2, 2007, at 9:15 a.m. at Carle Hospital in Urbana, Illinois. She was born February 6, 1936, daughter of Frank K. and Frances (Kirkpatrick) Allen near Tab, Indiana. Her parents and a young brother, Samuel Robert, preceded her in death. On January 10, 1959, she married Wayne E. Dare of Covington, Indiana, who survives. Also surviving, a daughter, Marci Foley of North Richland Hills, Texas, and her sons, Kyle of Dallas, Texas and Ryan of Denton, Texas, and her son, David Dare of Huntsville, Alabama; two brothers, Fred (Rose Emma) Allen of Marion, Illinois; and Clifford Kelsey (Patricia) Allen of Covington, Indiana. Peggy grew up on a farm near Portland Arch and attended grade school there. Peggy graduated from Covington High School as Valedictorian in 1954, and subsequently worked for General Electric in Danville, Illinois, leaving the work force for several years to raise her children. She later worked for White & White Law Firm, Dr. Max Hoffman, and the VA Medical Center in Danville, retiring in 1995. She belonged to the National Honor Society, Psi Iota Xi, Fountain County Genealogy Society and the Maranatha Baptist Church. Peggys interests included writing, reading, oil painting and personal contacts with her friends. Per her wishes, private services will be conducted on Friday, October 5, 2007, by Sunsets Covington Chapel, with no visitation. Memorial donations may be made to the American Arthritis Foundation.
