Pauline V. Hughes

Pauline Virginia Hughes, 98, of Georgetown, passed away Friday February 10, 2017 at 10:05 am at North Logan Health Care. She was born February 28, 1918 in Georgetown, the daughter of David and Effie (Scott) Gannon. Pauline married Herschel Hughes on August 17, 1935 in Springfield, He preceded her on August 18, 1986. She will be missed by: her two children, Dolores (Kent) Wasko Smith of Georgetown and Roger A. (Linda) Hughes of North East Maryland; her grandchildren, Paula "Nancy" Wasko, Cindi (Greg) Learnard, Brett (Tanya) Hughes, and granddaughter-in-law, Andrea Hughes; step-grandchildren, Laurel Waters, Crystal Starlins, Bryan and John Waters; her great-grandchildren, Morgan, Joel and Ross Learnard, Lauren, Gannon and Gabi Hughes, Liv and Greyson Starling, Cali and Cruse Ellis and Evan Waters. She was preceded in death by: her parents; son-in-law, Joe Wasko; and grandson, Bart J. Hughes. Pauline had worked for Georgetown Plastics, Ben Franklin's in Georgetown and General Electric, and later for her husband at Georgetown Heating. Pauline was a member of the Georgetown First Church of Christ which she was very involved with. She would help and house the intern youth minister's. She was a member of the Eastern Star. She enjoyed walking in the woods and mushroom hunting. She was always at her grandchildren's sporting events. Pauline enjoyed traveling and singing in the choir. A celebration of Pauline's life will be at 2:00pm, Monday, February 13, 2017 at Sunset's Houghton-Leasure Funeral Home, 200 E. West Street, Georgetown with Phil Miller officiating. Visitation for family and friends will be 12 noon to 2:00pm prior to the service. Burial will be in Georgetown Cemetery. Memorials can be given to the Georgetown Mural Committee 111 S.
