Pauline A. Pachciarz, 92, of Decatur, formerly of Westville passed away at 10:30 a.m. Saturday September 19, 2009 at the Hawthorne Inn. She was born on December 16, 1916 in Westville, IL the daughter of Lawrence and Magdalene (Wichtacz) Pachciarz. Survivors include her sisters, Lillian Etchison of Williamsport, IN and Clara Yurkovich of Chicago, IL, and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, Casimir Casey Pachciarz and Walter Pachciarz, and a sister Mary Pachciarz. Pauline began her career as a teacher in a rural school near Wheeler in Jasper County. She then moved to her home town of Westville and taught for eleven years, she then moved to Decatur where she taught 1st grade at Mary W. French School for forty years before retiring. In all she taught for fifty-two years. She was a member of Delta Kappa Gamma Society. Pauline was a member of the St. Marys Church in Westville until she moved to Decatur, where she became a member of Saints James & Patrick Catholic Church of Decatur. Pauline enjoyed reading and giving books to people, especially her nieces and nephews. Her family was very important too her. A mass of Christian burial will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday September 23, 2009 at St. Marys Catholic Church in Westville. Fr. Jeffery A. Grant will officiate. Burial will be at St. Peter & Paul Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 9-10:30 a.m. Wednesday September 23, 2009. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to St. Marys Catholic Church or Saints James & Patrick Catholic Church. Condolences may be sent to the family at www.sunsetfuneralhome.com .
