Paula A. Penny Smith, 67, of Westville, passed away at 8:21am, Tuesday, July 29, 2014, at Pleasant Meadows Senior Living, Chrisman. She was born on April 1, 1947, the daughter of Leon and Ann {Balskus} LaSage, both deceased. She was united in marriage to Ronnie Smith in July 1967 in Westville until his passing on December 25, 1984. She is survived by: her son, Jason (Stacey) Smith of Catlin; her grandchildren, Nicholas & Noah Smith of Catlin; her sister, Debbie Judd of Clinton, IL, her niece & nephew, Libby Judd of Denver, CO, & Nathan Judd of Clinton, IL; and her life-long friend, Sally Potter Miller of Danville. Penny was very passionate about her career as a teachers aide at Judith Giacoma Elementary School in Westville from 1979-2003. She truly cared about the children she worked with during her time there. Her caring spirit carried over into her membership in the Jr. Womens Club of Westville and serving on the Lithuanian Cemetery Board. Her greatest love was spending time with her family, especially her grandsons. She will be missed by all who knew & loved her. A visitation will be held 3pm-5pm, Saturday, August 2, 2014, at Sunset-Urbas Funeral Chapel. A private family service will be held after. She will be laid to rest in Lithuanian National Cemetery. Memorial donations may be given to her family to be used for book donations for Judith Giacoma Library in Westville.
