Paula J. Hiser

Paula J. Hiser 53, of Bismarck passed away at 6:42 a.m. Wednesday September 5, 2007 at Danville Provena USMC. Paula was born October 9, 1953 the daughter of Larry Bartmess of Colorado and Jane (Wintersteen) Bivans of Hoopeston, IL they survive. She married Gary Hiser on June 29, 1973. Gary and Paula spent many happy years together, their love was evident to all who knew them. Gary and Paula were later blessed in life by two sons, Jeremy (Cindy) Hiser of Fairmount and Joshua (Kelley) Hiser of Pleasant Prairie, WI. Paula was one of twelve children. Three brothers: David (Lonnett) Davis, Todd (Marlo) Davis, and Paul Lynn, seven sisters: Pam (Charlie Crook) Goble, Donna (Tim) Watson, Sandy (Ross) Kinnaird, Jennifer Downing, Mary (Randy) Jones, Missy (Jim) Grove, and Patricia (Don) Stebbins, one granddaughter Maci Hiser and many nieces and nephews. Paula was preceded in death by one brother J.B. Bartmess. Paula was employed as a nurse at St. Elizabeth Hospital until its closing. She then went to work at Provena USMC, then for the last six years she worked at Danville Polyclinic in the Surgery Department. Although Paula was very humble, there was not one person in her life that was not touched by her compassion, her kindness and her love of life. Paula had many hobbies. You could always find her riding around with Gary on their Harley or playing the slot machines, with that never-ending hope of hitting the big one. She also spent many hours with her family and especially her granddaughter Maci. A celebration of Paulas life will be held Saturday, September 8, 2007 at 2:00 pm at Sunset Funeral Home, with Miles Clark officiating. Visitation will be Friday, September 7, 2007 from 4-8 pm at the funeral home. Paula will be laid to rest at Gundy Cemetery in Bismarck IL.
