Paul Edsel Thorn, 64, of Rantoul, passed away at 2:48 p.m. Sunday, February 3, 2008 at VA Illiana Healthcare Systems in Danville. Paul was born on December 28, 1943 in Parkersburg, West Virginia, the son of Claude C. and Thelma E. (Parsons) Thorn Sr. He is survived by his two sons- Jason Paul (Dawn) Thorn and Jonathan Matthew Thorn both of Rantoul; six brothers- Bill Thorn of West Virginia, Roger (Nancy) Thorn of Hoopeston, Charles Thorn of North Dakota, Cloyd (Bobbie) Thorn of West Virginia, Claude Junior (Mary) Thorn of Georgia and Ronald (Cookie) Thorn of Hoopeston; two sisters- Mary (John) Thatcher of Henning and Pauline Lockhart of West Virginia; two grandchildren- Harley Denny and Hannah Shepherd both of Rantoul; and 20 nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, one sister- Ruth Bowman and two brothers- Carl Thorn and Chester Thorn. Paul graduated from high school in Elizabeth, West Virginia. He worked at Rantoul Products for 14 years until he retired. He enjoyed fishing, camping, and being outdoors. Paul loved to spend time with his family. He was a member of the American Legion in Rantoul. A Celebration of the Life of Paul E. Thorn will be at 10:00 a.m. Friday, February 8, 2008 at Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Danville, with Father Geoffrey Scanlon officiating. Visitation will be from 5:00-8:00 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Burial will be at Danville National Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the family.
