Cayuga, Ind. - Paul Thomas "Mick" Haggerty, 77, of Cayuga and formerly of the Ridge Farm and Georgetown area, passed away peacefully, surrounded by his loving family at 9:57 a.m. CDT Wednesday, July 4, 2018 at OSF HealthCare in Danville, Illinois.

Mick was born December 26, 1940, in Danville, Illinois. He was the son of John Robert "Bob" and Mary "Tillie" (Taylor) Haggerty.

He was a lifelong resident of Vermilion County, Illinois until he began residing with his daughter in 2015. He worked as a roofing contractor most of his life. Mick was a veteran of the United States Army. He loved history and enjoyed fishing, riding his motorcycle, traveling, and spending time with his children. He never knew a stranger and had the gift of gab and a heart of gold.

He is survived by five daughters: Tonya Van Sant (Kevin) of Cayuga, Indiana; Lisa Bey (Chris) of Danville, Illinois; Micki Susan Phenicie of Ridge Farm, Illinois; Sarah Haggerty and Lenora Haggerty both of Danville, Illinois; one son: Curtis Haggerty (Michelle) of Copper Mountain, Colorado; seven grandchildren; three great grandchildren, and one brother: John Robert Haggerty Jr. (Jane) of Birmingham, Michigan.

Mick was preceded in death by his parents, and an infant brother, William Dean Haggerty.

A celebration of Mick's life will be held at DeVerter Funeral Home in Cayuga, Indiana at 2 p.m. EDT Saturday, July 7, 2018. Visitation will be one hour prior to services on Saturday. The family request contributions to the St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, Tennessee 38105-9959.
