Paul Richard Atwood, 72, of Kokomo, Indiana passed away on January 22, 2024 following complications from a stroke. Paul was born on September 10, 1951 to Glen Atwood and Harriet (Hansen) Fitzwater in Danville, Illinois.
Paul graduated from Stephen Decatur High School in 1969. He went on to start his career at the General Motors foundry in Tilton. He worked there for several years until its closing. In 1995, Paul chose to move he and his young son (Chris Atwood) to Kokomo, Indiana and transferred his career to Delco Electronics within GM. Paul retired from Delco in 1999 after almost 32 years of hard work and dedication.
In his retirement years he spent most of his time keeping busy with his property, his dog Duke, his cats, and fixing things. He always enjoyed fishing, and the outdoors.
Paul was preceded by both of his parents, sister, Mary Alice Atwood, and brother, Michael W. Atwood. He is survived by his son, Chris (Debbie) Atwood, grandchildren, John and Jael Atwood of Evansville, IN, sister, Patricia Gamble of Glen Burnie, MD, and brothers, John (Huan) Atwood of Colonial Heights, VA, Jim Atwood of Champaign, IL, and David Atwood of Arlington, TX as well as serval nieces and nephews.
A Celebration of Life will be held at 10:00 AM on Monday, January 29, 2024 at Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Danville, Illinois, 3940 N Vermilion St. Danville, IL 61834. Reverend Christopher Atwood will officiate. Burial will be in Sunset Memorial Park. Visitation will be held from 2-4:00 PM on Sunday, January 28, 2024 and one hour prior to services at the funeral home.
