Kingman, Ind. -- Paul Ray, Jr., 85, of rural Kingman, Indiana, passed away at 10:15 p.m. CDT Saturday(October 13, 2007) at the VA Illiana Health Care System in Danville, Illinois. He was born November 23, 1921, in Cayuga, Indiana, the son of the late Paul Edgar and Esther Grimes Ray. He married Mary Pugh on July 15, 1945 in Howard, Indiana. She survives. Other survivors include his children: Paula(Bob)Brooks of Princeton, West Virginia; Phyllis(Scott)Blackwood of Louisville, Kentucky; Alan(Debbie)Ray of Cayuga, Indiana; Alice (David)Denhart of Covington, Indiana and Faith(Jim)Hanner of Bloomingdale, Indiana; ten grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren; one sister, Gwen(Dave)Greene of Danville, Indiana. He was preceded in death by one brother, Glenn Ray, Sr. Paul was a retired farmer. A veteran of W.W. II he served with the United States Army. He was a member of the Waterman Baptist Church in Lodi, Indiana. Paul was a 1938 graduate of Tangier High School. He preached in over 80 churches in the Indiana and Illinois area. Paul enjoyed working with horses. Funeral services: 2 p.m. EDT Wednesday, October 17, 2007 at the Waterman Baptist Church in Lodi, Indiana; Officiating: Rev. William Lehman and Rev. Dean Hartman; Burial: Miller Cemetery, Lodi, Indiana; Visitation: 4 to 8 p.m. EDT Tuesday, October 16, 2007 at DeVerter Funeral Home in Cayuga, Indiana and one hour prior to services Wednesday at Waterman Baptist Church.
