Paul R. Peyton, 87, of Danville passed away on April 22, 2019 at Danville VA Iliana Healthcare System.

He was born on March 25, 1932 in Wayne City, Illinois the son of Kenneth and Edna (McKinney) Peyton. He married Gertrude Koblenzer on October 8, 1955 and she survives.

Paul will be deeply missed by his wife, Gertrude, daughters, Linda McLaughlin of Danville and Isle Garrett of Sullivan, eight grandchildren, fourteen great grandchildren and four great-great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, son, Paul Peyton Jr. and sister, Tina Caraker.

Paul served in the United States Army for 20 years, retiring in 1972. He became the Army recruiter in Danville for several years. He was a member of the Danville VFW and loved spending time with his children and grandchildren. In his spare time, he raised canaries, parakeets and cockatiels, selling them all over the state. He was a wonderful husband to Gertrude for 63 years and she will miss him dearly.

A celebration of Pauls life will be held at 11:00 AM on Thursday, April 25, 2019 at the Danville VA Protestant Chapel, 1900 East Main St. Danville, IL 61832. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service from 10-11 AM. Burial will be held at Danville National Cemetery. Memorials can be made in Pauls name to the Danville VFW.
