Paul R. Bell

Paul Raymond Bell, 92, of Georgetown, passed away at 12:30pm, Wednesday, May 10, 2017, at Presence USMC, Danville. He was born on April 17, 1925, in Hume, IL, the son of James William and Lena {Roderick} Bell. He was united in marriage to Joyce Ellyn Neubert on November 3, 1946, in Ridge Farm, IL, until her passing on August 10, 2004. He is survived by: his daughters, Jean (Dennis) Duden of Fithian, Carolyn (Terry) Monke of Litchfield, Shirley R. Bell of Galesburg, Virginia (Jim) Aleksunes of Glastonbury, CT, & Connie (Charles) Rhoden of Georgetown; his sixteen grandchildren; and thirty great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, Harland (Edith) Bell & Robert (Lina) Bell; and his sister, Geraldine (Fredrick) Ewing. Paul worked at Peterson-Puritan until retiring 1990. He was a proud Veteran of the US Army serving in WWII. He was a member of Georgetown United Methodist Church and served on the board. He also had attended and served on the Board of Trustees for McKendree United Methodist Church. He also served on the board for Wingard Grade School for 9 years. Paul enjoyed woodworking, small engine repair, gardening, and tinkering with anything electrical. He cherished the time he spent with his family and they will miss him dearly. A celebration of Paul's life will be held at 2:00pm, Saturday, May 13, 2017, at Georgetown United Methodist Church, 400 N Main ST, Georgetown, with Pastor Matt Filicsky officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the Church. He will be laid to rest in Crown Hill Cemetery, Crown Hill Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be given to the Georgetown United Methodist Church. Sunset's Houghton-Leasure Funeral Home, Georgetown, assisted the family with arrangements.
