Covington, Ind. -- Paul O. Galloway, 80, formerly of Covington and a resident of Carmel for the past two months, passed away at 8:15 a.m. EDT Tuesday, July 26, 2011 at The Stratford in Carmel, Indiana. He was born April 9, 1931 in Crawfordsville, Indiana, the son of the late Nelson J. and Hanna "Belle" Bantz Galloway. He first married M. Ann Brooks on June 6, 1954. She preceded him in death on July 12, 1990. Paul later married Luci Bilsland Parker on November 2, 1991 in Attica, Indiana. She survives. Other survivors include one daughter, Julie(Doug)Allen of Carmel, Indiana; one son, Paige(Stacey)Galloway of Covington, Indiana; two step daughters, Nancy(Rick)Bond of Valparaiso, Indiana and Carol Parker of Indianapolis, Indiana; six grandchildren, Taylor and Chris Allen; Audrey Galloway; Christina Gates; Caitlin and Amanda Malone; one sister, Emma Eloise (Dr. Gilbert)Himebaugh of Evansville, Indiana; several nieces and nephews. Paul was preceded in death by one sister, Georgeanne Eldred. Paul formerly owned and operated the Ben Franklin store in Covington. He was the former Vice President of the Bank of Western Indiana, former President of the Hillsboro State Bank, and most recently farm manager for Galloway-Bantz Farm. He was a veteran of the United States Navy. A 1949 graduate of Covington High School, Paul was Valedictorian and Vice President of his class. He attended Purdue University graduating in 1953. While at Purdue he was a member of the Alpha Kappa Lambda Fraternity. Paul was a member of the Benson Chapel United Methodist Church and a former member of the Covington Lions Club. He was also a former board member for the Covington Community Foundation. Paul enjoyed Airstreaming, camping, fishing, bird watching and geneology. He was an avid fan of Purdue University and the Indianapolis Colts. Funeral services: 11 a.m. EDT Saturday, July 30, 2011 at Benson Chapel United Methodist Church west of Covington, Indiana; Officiating: Rev. Brenda Burnworth; Burial: Mount Hope Cemetery in Covington, Indiana; Visitation: 4 to 8 p.m. EDT Friday, July 29, 2011 at the church and one hour prior to services on Saturday.
