Paul M. Sherksnis, 68, of Westville, passed away at 2:55pm, Monday, December 26, 2011, at Provena USMC, Danville. He was born on November 7, 1943, in Danville, IL, the son of Peter and Mary {Parzatka} Sherksnis, both deceased. He was united in marriage to Mary Jayne Clark on April 13, 1972, in San Diego, CA. She will miss him dearly. He will also be missed by: his special cousins, Greg (Pat) Juris of Danville & their family; his special in-laws, Carolyn (Joe) Schwartz of La Crosse, WI, Bernadine (Jerome) Schingen of Fond Du Lac, WI, Kathy Powers of Beaver Dam, WI, & David (Marlene) Clark of Minneapolis, MN; several nieces & nephews; and many great nieces & great nephews, including Elizabeth, whom he had a special fondness for. Paul was a proud Veteran of the US Navy. He worked as an aircraft mechanic for American Airlines for 36 years in Chicago and was a member of T.W.U. He was a member of the East Central Illinois Bluebird Society, as well as, a member of the Genealogical & Historical Society and the Westville American Legion Post #51. He was a life-member of the V.F.W. #728 in Danville and a member of St. Paul's Catholic Church. In his spare time, Paul was an avid gardener and loved to go hunting & fishing. He also enjoyed traveling & cooking. Most of all, Paul cherished the time he spent with his wife, family, & friends. A celebration of Paul's life will be held at 1:00pm, Thursday, December 29, 2011, at Sunset-Urbas Funeral Chapel, 414 S State St, Westville, with Father Greg Nelson officiating and military rites given by Westville American Legion Post #51. Visitation will be held two hours prior to the service at the funeral home. As were his wishes, Paul will be cremated.
