Tangier, Ind. -- Paul Eston Newnum, 70, of Tangier, Indiana died at 11:15 p.m. EST Saturday (November 18, 2006) at Terre Haute Regional Hospital in Terre Haute, Indiana where he had been a patient for four days. He was born January 12, 1936, in Parke County, Indiana, the son of the late Connie and Gladys Chapman Newnum. He was first married to Mary Cook. He was later married to Marcia Day who preceded him in death in 1992. He then married Joyce Swaim on December 9, 1995. She survivors. Other survivors include: one daughter, Paula Christine Newnum of Rantoul, Illinois; three brothers, Leon(Vi)Newnum of Rockville, Indiana; Keith(Evelyn)Newnum of Tangier, Indiana and Ronnie(Patty)Newnum of Indianapolis, Indiana; one sister, Delores(Don)Russell of Maui, Hawaii; three brothers in law, Paul(Edna)Woodard, Bill(Sandy)Woodard and Joe Daniels all of Cayuga, Indiana; a special nephew and niece, Steve and Debbie Newnum and many other nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by one brother, Richard Conway Newnum. Paul was a 1954 graduate of Tangier High School. He was a retired bus driver for Turkey Run School Corporation, lime hauler and farmer. He was the bass singer for the Newnum Brothers Quartet. His memberships included; past vice-president of the Covered Bridge Antique Power Association and the Tangier Community Club, The Hart Parr Oliver Collectors Association, Ancient Accepted Scottish Rite Valley of Terre Haute, A lifetime member and past Worshipful Master of the Kingman Masonic Lodge #314, F& A.M. and past patron of the O.E.S. Chapter 204; National Rifle Association and the Rush Creek Friends Church. He attended the Kingman United Methodist Church where he was a member of the Methodist Quartet. His hobbies were singing, playing the bass, listening to and playing bluegrass music and antique tractors. Funeral Services: 11 a.m. EST Wednesday, November 22, 2006 at the Kingman United Methodist Church in Kingman, Indiana; Officiating: Kenny Majors; Burial: Rush Creek Cemetery, Tangier, Indiana; Visitation: 4 to 8 p.m. EST Tuesday, November 21, 2006 at DeVerter Brothers Funeral Home in Cayuga, Indiana with Masonic memorial services at 8 p.m. EST.. Visitation one hour prior to services Wednesday at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society, C/O Mrs. J.
