Paul Edward Gannon

Paul Edward Gannon, 92, of Bloomington, IL passed away on Tuesday, May 31, 2016 at Danville VA Illiana Healthcare Systems. Paul was born on July 10, 1923 in Valley Junction Iowa, the son of John Francis Gannon and Mary Theresa McKeever. He married Mettie York on September 18, 1954 in Des Moines, Iowa, she survives. Paul will be greatly missed by his wife, Mettie; sons, Paul Douglas (Lynn), David (Denise); brother, John Francis, Jr.; grandchildren, Jillian, Christie, Jonathan, Emily, Cody; great-grandchildren, Caiden and Aryana. Paul was preceded in death by his parents and grandson, Benjamin Gannon. Paul proudly served as a Lieutenant in the US Navy as a fighter pilot during WWII and received an air medal with a Gold Star. He was employed as a chemist for Bridgestone Firestone Tire Co. As per Paul's wishes, private family services will be held at Danville National Cemetery. Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 3940 North Vermilion Street Danville, IL is assisting the Gannon family with arrangements.
