Paul Donald Huber

The One and Only, Pied-Piper, Paul Donald Huber, 71, of Georgetown, passed away at 4:55am, April 10, 2016, at Illiana Health Care Systems, Danville. He was born on November 24, 1944, in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, the son of Thomas and Rosalie {McCrory} Huber. On June 17, 1976, Paul and Sharon {Brazelton} began their life together. It was a journey that even after many years, they still felt "butterflies" and had eyes only for each other. There wasn't a day in those 40 years that she wasn't happy to see him and was especially excited when he pulled into the driveway after working all day. She will miss seeing him every day and losing her best friend. Paul was a graduate of Danville High School Class of 1962. He was a journeyman electrician at General Motors Tilton Foundry for over 30 years gladly working the night shift and served as a Union Representative. He proudly served his country in the US Army during the Vietnam Conflict during 1965-1967, seeing one year of combat gaining the rank of Corporal. He also farmed in Georgetown. Paul was a member of the Danville VFW, the Masonic 980 Anchor Lodge, and the Gao Grotto. He also was a member of the Georgetown United Methodist Church and loved doing things for his Church Family. He was the one person they could call to fix just about anything at the Church. He put on the Huber Family Musical which raised money for Church projects for many years. A person could find Paul enjoying golf at Blue Needles Golf Course. On more than one occasion, he was known to fix a golf cart or two. He built his home, his son's home, and was known to fix elderly people's homes because he could fix just about anything. He enjoyed fishing, traveling, and restoring cars. Paul also loved doing woodworking and helping Sharon with her crafts. Paul was very musically inclined and played in the band, "Them Guys". There wasn't a thing he couldn't do, but you would never know it because he was just as humble. He loved to work and stay busy with many projects. He was also known to be ornery on occasion and loved to joke around. He was the pied-piper of people due to his genuine good personality that drew people to him. There is no amount of words to describe his love of his family and the complete joy he displayed at each of their births. He was the most amazing man they knew. In any circumstance, he stood by his family and was a great example of a man to look up to. He was always there for his family and for anyone who needed help and was very dependable. Paul was like a rock. Between Paul and Sharon, they had three children: Cathy (Terry) Reffett Wonderlin of Franklin, TN, Doug (Denise) Reffett of Georgetown, & Michael (Kristy) Huber of Williamsport, IN. Their grandchildren: Whitni (Mike) Wonderlin McConnell, Wade Wonderlin, Douglas Reffett, Brooke (Jonathon) Reffett Michelin, Stephanie (Nolan) Mitchell Donofry, Kari Mitchell, Kaylan Huber, Hannah Huber, and Chandler (Blake) Huber Mortimore. Their great grandchildren: Gabriel, Reese, Eva, Libby, Lillian, Caroline, & Blake. He is also survived by his brother, Richard (Helen) Huber of Danville and their three children, Sam, Matt, and several other extended family. He also leaves behind way too many friends to list. His parents preceded him in death. Paul's "Send Off" will be held at the church he loved, Georgetown United Methodist Church, at 10:00am, Thursday, April 14, 2016. Military Rites will be conducted by the American Legion Dornblaser Post #203. Visitation will also be held 3pm-7pm, Wednesday, April 13, 2016, at Georgetown United Methodist Church. Masonic Service will be held at 2:30pm Wednesday before the visitation. Per his wishes, Paul will be cremated. Memorials donations may be given in his name to Georgetown United Methodist Church. Please join his family in sharing memories, photos, & videos through his Tribute wall at www.sunsetfuneralhome.com .
