Paul Arthur Vale, 73, of Covington Indiana, went to be with the Lord on August 3, 2023. He was born in Valparaiso, Indiana on April 13, 1950 to Paul L. and Jean Vale. He grew up in Chesterton, Indiana on the shore of Lake Michigan. After graduating high school, Paul played basketball for the Danville Area Community College Jaguars. He continued his love of basketball throughout his life. Paul also loved to fish and was a skilled fly fisherman. He worked for Interstate Sand and Gravel, Danville Concrete, and retired from Steel Grip, Inc. after a long and highly successful career as a sales representative. Pauls greatest joy in life was his three children Brian, Meghan, and Lauren and his four grandchildren. Paul will be remembered as a caring and compassionate husband, father, grandfather, coach, mentor, and friend. He was also famous for his one-liners. Paul thrived in many roles throughout his life. He was a former thirty-second degree mason of the Yeddo Lodge in Fountain County, Indiana. Paul coached many sports and mentored many young athletes. He was a member of Troy First Wesleyan Church in Troy, North Carolina where he served the Church as a member of the board of administration. Most recently, he was a member of Covington United Methodist Church where he served as the chairman of the board of trustees. Paul loved the Lord and was comforted by daily Bible study and prayer. Paul is survived by his wife, Dawn; his children, Brian Vale and wife Jill of Wilmington, North Carolina, Meghan Walton of Mooresville, Indiana and son-in-law, Adam Walton of Indianapolis, and Lauren Vale; his grandchildren, Connor and Corina Vale, and Nolan and Nora Walton; his sister, Judy Joll of Spartanburg, South Carolina; and brother, Chris Grismer of Folsom, California. A celebration of Pauls life will be held at a later date. His family entrusted his arrangements to Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Covington, Indiana 420 3rd St. Covington, Indiana 47932. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be given to Covington United Methodist Church or Simon Cancer Center at Indiana University Hospital, Indianapolis Indiana.
